The Story

It was our last boat ride of the season.  As always, I was watching the shoreline, looking for the wildlife that makes our lake so special.

Near Third Island, I spotted a beautiful heron standing quietly on a fallen tree resting in the water.   Surrounded by lush green foliage, he seemed perfectly content, watching the world go by.

It was one of those fleeting moments that could have easily gone unnoticed. But something about the stillness, the light filtering through the trees, and that solitary heron made me want to hold onto it just a little longer.

And so, Almost Missed  became another treasured memory of life at the lake.

The Reflection

How often do we miss the beauty right in front of us because we're too busy looking ahead?

Sometimes the most extraordinary moments are tucked inside the ordinary. A quiet shoreline. A bird resting on a fallen branch.  A moment of stillness in a world that rarely slows down.

I believe God gives us these little reminders to be present, to appreciate His creation, and to recognize that even the smallest moments can hold something beautiful.

We just have to be willing to notice.
