Desert Majesty

The Story

There are some places I can return to again and again and never tire of the view.

Saguaro Lake is one of them.

We've experienced this landscape in so many ways-hiking the trails around it, kayaking across the blue water, or riding our motorcycle through the surrounding desert.  And no matter how many times we visit, there is always something that makes me stop and look again.

For Desert Majesty, it was the layers that captured me.

The saguaros standing in the foreground.  The unexpected blue of the lake cutting through the desert. And beyond it, those rugged mountains rising from the water.

Painted in oil on a 12 x 16 board, this piece captures one of those Arizona views that never seems to grow ordinary to me.

Reflection

Familiar doesn't have to mean ordinary.

There are places, people and moments in our lives that we experience over and over, yet somehow they continue to give us something new.

Maybe the difference is in how we choose to see them.

When we keep our eyes open to wonder even the familiar can remind us of the incredible beauty God has placed all around us.

Some views are worth returning to.

Again and again.
