Story
Some of the best discoveries happen when we decide to wander a little farther.
While visiting a lake in Missouri, my dad and I spent the day painting together outdoors. It was my very first experience painting en plain air, allowing the landscape itself to become part of the creative process.
Just a few steps from the parking lot, I noticed a trail disappearing into the trees. Curious, I followed it to this hidden waterfall, quietly tucked away beneath a canopy of fresh green leaves.
The moment I saw it, I knew this would be my painting subject.
As I set up my easel beside the water, I listened to the steady rhythm of the falls, watched the sunlight dance through the leaves. and experienced the landscape in a way that no photograph could every capture.
That day wasn't only about painting a waterfall. It was about sharing the beginning of a new artistic adventure with my dad.
Reflection
Sometimes the most beautiful places are hidden just beyond the path we almost didn't take.
Life has a way of rewarding curiosity. When we're willing to slow down, step off the familiar road, and explore what God places before us, we often discover unexpected beauty waiting quietly in the shadows.
The hidden places often become the ones we treasure most.
Scripture
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
-Jeremiah 33:3
