The Story

Some of the most beautiful moments in life are the ones we never planned.

A quiet morning by the lake.
Coffee nearby.
Winston curled peacefully in my lap.
The geraniums spilling from their basket overhead.

And then—a hummingbird.

For just a moment, everything seemed to become still.

Nothing extraordinary was happening, and yet somehow, everything extraordinary was right there.

In the Quiet of the Morning was painted from one of those ordinary mornings that quietly asks us to notice—the light on the water, the flowers within reach, the companionship at our feet, and the tiny visitor who arrives just long enough to make us stop and smile.

Reflection

I think sometimes we expect God to reveal Himself in the big moments—the answered prayer, the mountaintop, the unmistakable miracle.

But so often, I find Him here.

In the quiet.

In sunlight touching the water. In the flutter of tiny wings. In a contented little companion curled against me. In the gift of another morning and the realization that, for this moment, there is nowhere else I need to be.

Maybe peace isn’t something we have to go searching for.

Maybe sometimes it’s already surrounding us.

We simply have to become still enough to notice.

Scripture
