Scenic View

Story

Travel has a way of leading us to places we never expected-and sometimes those places stay with us long after we've left.

While exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota, we came upon a bridge overlooking a rushing mountain stream.  Towering pines surrounded the water their fresh spring greens glowing against the rocky landscape.  The air carried the unmistakable scent of pine, and the sound of the rushing water echoed through the valley.

As I stood taking it all in an older couple riding bicycles stopped on the bridge beside us.  They didn't say much.  They simply leaned on the railing together, quietly soaking in the beauty before continuing on their journey.

That simple moment reminded me that some views are too beautiful to simply pass by.

Reflection

Life often keeps us moving from one destination to the next.

But every once in a while, we're invited to stop-not because we have to, but because something beautiful deserves our full attention.

The places we remember most aren't always the famous landmarks.  Often they're the quiet moments that ask us to slow our pace, breathe deeply, and simply be present.

Perhaps that's one of God's greatest invitations-to notice the beauty He's placed along the way.
