There are moments in the desert that feel like time stands still—
when the sky is alive with color, yet everything around you is completely at peace.
This piece was inspired by one of those evenings.
Layer by layer, I built the warmth into the sky, allowing the light to rise through the canvas until it felt less like paint and more like a glow you could step into. The desert silhouettes were intentionally kept quiet—simply holding space for the sky to speak.
As I painted, I realized this may be one of my last desert sunsets for a while. In just a couple of weeks, I’ll be heading back to the lake—trading these fiery skies for a softer, reflective kind of light.
Because of that, this piece feels like a pause.
A moment of stillness.
A quiet goodbye… for now.
