This '52 Chevrolet Convertible is enjoying a peaceful evening as it parks for the night at the charming Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Surrounded by the serene ambiance of this historic motel, the car is ready to take a break from its journey along the iconic Route 66, also known as the Mother Road. The Chevrolet's classic design stands out against the backdrop of the motel's vintage charm, creating a picturesque scene that captures the essence of a bygone era. As the car rests for the night, it symbolizes the nostalgia and adventure that await travelers along this iconic highway.

The Blue Swallow Motel has been serving travelers along the Mother Road since 1939, a reminder of what it was like to travel across the USA in the "Good Old Days".   When I decided to paint Route 66, I knew I had to include one of the icons of Route 66 folklore.

With the scene right as dusk is setting in, I could capture the beautiful sunset along with the infamous sign glowing bright with the neon lights.  What better classic car then to use my Arizona neighbors James and Connie Chambers' 1952 Chevy.  With it's white color it was perfect to set in as they checked in the office for a room.  The white captures the lights from the sunset and the signs perfectly.

This is an oil painting done on an 18 x 24 canvas.  The original is not for sale, but a limited series of prints are.  The price reflects the prints which are the same size as the original.
